The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) recently provided overarching feedback to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and Department of War (DOW) concerning the changes made to Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) under the Revolutionary FAR Overhaul effort. With the informal comment period now concluded, the letter urges the FAR Council to consider further streamlining of key requirements that unnecessarily burden both the government and industry before the effort moves to formal rulemaking.
Recommendations include further streamlining cost or pricing data requirements, updating the allowable cost framework, enhancing commercial procurement processes, reinforcing essential competition principles, and retaining crucial policy guidance within the FAR itself to avoid potential confusion. AIA and our members strongly support this effort and look forward to continued engagement on the initiative.
