Position Summary:

The Senior Director, Procurement Policy supports the Vice President for National Security Policy on all matters relating to Department of War procurement policy, including but not limited to, the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement, contract management, commercial item procurement, and pricing policy matters. The incumbent represents AIA on these and related issues to AIA membership, outside organizations, the Pentagon, other executive branch agencies, and Congressional committees and member offices.

Building on their experience, judgment, and network, the incumbent works with and seeks input from AIA member companies, councils, and committees, and is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, proposing, and advocating for legislation, regulation, and policies concerning defense procurement; monitoring development and implementation of such rules; and other related areas.

Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Director, Procurement Policy serves as AIA’s primary defense contracting policy resource. The incumbent responds to inquiries from member companies, government officials, the public, and the press. These inquiries may range from general questions to highly technical requests requiring significant effort to assemble data and related background information. The incumbent also may prepare Congressional testimony on association positions for AIA leaders.

The Senior Director, Procurement Policy maintains regular contact with government officials and representatives of the Department of War, the Office of Management and Budget, other Executive Branch agencies, and other offices. The incumbent may accompany the Vice President for National Security Policy and other senior AIA leaders to meet with senior Administration officials, members of Congress and staff, AIA member company Chief Executive Officers and other executives, and other senior individuals in and out of government.

The Senior Director, Procurement Policy may be called upon to present AIA’s views orally and in writing to government and industry officials and to the media; to represent AIA in coalitions that are formed to present a unified approach on national security policy issues of mutual interest; and to represent AIA positions as a spokesperson at conferences and seminars. The incumbent will contribute articles and news items to AIA publications, highlighting issues and developments within the NSP division’s portfolio, and prepare summaries of such issues for use during AIA or outside meetings.

The Senior Director, Procurement Policy will support the Vice President for National Security Policy by leading and coordinating the activities of AIA’s acquisition-focused councils, committees and working groups, primarily the Acquisition Policy Council, Cost Principles Committee, Contract Management Committee, Commercial Items Working Group, and others.

The salary range for this role is $174,000 – $190,000.

Policy Leadership (40%)

  • Representing AIA to all stakeholders across the federal contracting community.
  • Leading AIA input to, comments on, and communications regarding defense procurement policy matters, including executive orders, regulatory actions, policy memoranda, and other guidance affecting defense procurement.
  • Analyzing industry challenges and opportunities and synthesizing concepts and ideas coming from government contacts and AIA’s council, committee and working group activities into cohesive policy positions.

Collaboration & Advocacy (40%)

  • Advocating for the association’s acquisition and procurement priorities and agenda in collaboration with internal AIA staff, including representatives from Communications, Legislative Affairs, International Affairs, Space Systems, and other divisions.
  • Providing regular input and advisory support to the Washington Procurement Committee and informing AIA legislative goals and activities as it relates to defense acquisition and procurement matters.
  • Building industry consensus among member companies on relevant and timely defense procurement topics and issues and serving as staff liaison to relevant internal and external groups.

Industry Activities (20%)

  • Overseeing arrangements and content for periodic council and committee meetings (including developing the agenda, assembling background information and materials, arranging for speakers and other participants, and ensuring that minutes are prepared), and managing expenses associated with all council and committee meetings.
  • Assisting with the planning and execution of major association events, including Executive Committee and Washington Representatives meetings and semi-annual Board of Governors meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

Desired Skills/Experience

  • The Senior Director, Procurement Policy must be a known and respected practitioner in the defense acquisition community, with focused experience in defense contracting policies and practices.
  • The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the U.S and international defense ecosystem, with a minimum of 12 years of experience in the Department of War, the U.S. Congress, a defense supplier, and/or a relevant trade association.

  • The incumbent must have excellent writing, research, speaking ability, superior attention to detail, and be skilled at working within large groups with divergent views to build consensus.

Position Summary:

The Senior Manager, Civil Aviation Environmental, and Global Policy reports directly to the Vice President, Civil Aviation. The position is responsible for developing strategic direction and priorities within assigned areas of focus and coordinating industry consensus positions. A major focus of this position will be environmental aspects of current and future aircraft technologies (including sustainable alternative fuels), and advocating efficient regulatory approaches for aviation emissions, noise and potential supersonic policy. One of the key features of this position will be support for the sustainable use of chemicals within the aerospace and defense industry. This position will handle the day to day interactions with ICCAIA and responsible for tracking applicable work at ICAO.

The position will assist members with identification of critical chemicals proposed for regulation and take a lead role in drafting comment letters identifying member concerns and strategies for continued use or replacement of key chemicals used in the aerospace and defense industry. This role will engage with multiple domestic and international agencies and other trade organizations in support of AIA positions and to ensure stakeholder alignment.

The salary range for this role is $75,000-$85,000.

Key Responsibilities:

Support Environmental Committee and integrate Environmental Programs across AIA (20%)

  • The environment lead will be responsible for working directly with AIA team members to link their existing efforts on the environmental aspects of aviation improvements into the larger sustainability efforts.
  • Responsible for monitoring and communicating to the subcommittees and AIA staff critical environmental issues that are associated with the design, manufacture, and operation of new and in-production aircraft (including components and engines). Examples include (but are not limited to) advanced aviation mobility (short range electric aircraft), airspace and in-flight routing changes that reduce emissions, efforts to reduce contrails, and expansion of “green” hydrogen for fuel. Analyzes the various trends, issues, and areas of concern associated with these environmental issues to provide insight and anticipate the need for association positions and actions.
  • Coordinate efforts with the sustainability lead at AIA and the associated committees. Write white papers and articles, news items to the AIA newsletters, or other communications highlighting environmental issues and developments that have or could affect the aviation and defense industry.

Support Noise, Emissions, and Supersonic Subcommittees (25%)

  • Coordinates the efforts of the subcommittees and working groups under the Environment and Sustainability Committee established to address U.S. and international environmental policies and regulatory issues. The Noise, Emissions, and Supersonic subcommittees formulate industry positions to be presented to U.S., foreign, and international agencies, bureaus and commissions, or respond to government inquiries dealing with special areas of concern requiring industry input.
  • When necessary, supports written and oral testimony to Congress, drafts official response letters to federal proposed rules and guidance documents, and regularly meets with FAA, NASA, and EPA to understand and discuss upcoming governmental initiatives related to aviation environmental policy. Supports these subcommittees by holding regular meetings and identifying issues for their discussion and review.

Outreach on Environmental Issues with Aviation (20%)

  • This role will be responsible for outreach on the broader environmental initiatives and federal/international programs outside of AIA that could affect the aviation and defense industry.
  • Maintains liaison with environmental policy level counterparts in member companies, U.S. and foreign governments, international organizations, other associations, and academia covering technical and legislative matters to define issues and focal points. This effort will also involve coordination with AIA communications on outreach to selected environmental NGOs to understand their concerns and issues with civil aviation.
  • The Senior Manager will represent AIA at industry meetings: organizing and chairing sessions, speaking, or serving as a panelist/moderator. They will work with other organizations and trade groups to inform them of AIA positions and contribute articles and news items to the AIA newsletters, or other communications highlighting issues and developments within area of expertise and responsibility.

Engagement with International aviation organizations (35%)

  • Given AIA’s role in ICCAIA the Senior Manager will be responsible for daily interactions with ICCAIA staff, as well as ensuring appropriate engagement with ICAO working groups and meetings.
  • This role will be responsible for participating in all CAEP meetings, and any other applicable meetings at either ICAO.

Qualifications and Experience:

Qualifications

  • A minimum of five years’ experience in an aerospace-related government, association or corporate position.
  • Experience with the development of policy, regulatory or legislative positions regarding civil aircraft or environmental issues.
  • Experience managing, developing, or advocating positions on policy issues related to aviation or the environment.
  • High-level communication and persuasion skills to coordinate and deliver consensus positions on civil aviation issues and policy concerns of our member companies.
  • Ability to effectively communicate the vision, and value of membership in AIA to maintain and increase membership, including reaching and/or expanding into new or untapped markets.
  • Strong understanding of aviation, aerospace, environmental, sustainability, and regulatory policy issues.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences and stakeholders with different interests.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience in customer service with high standards of timeliness and responsiveness.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a highly collaborative environment where teamwork, collegiality and self-motivation are necessary for success.
  • Experience with or in U.S. government agencies (FAA/DOT/EPA) and/or Congressional committees that oversee civil aviation issues.
  • Ability to operate effectively in complex, fast-moving policy environments and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience drafting high-quality comment letters, policy papers, briefing materials, and executive communications.

Desired Skills/Experience

  • Strong strategic thinking and issue-management skills, including the ability to anticipate emerging policy developments and proactively position the industry to respond.
  • Experience representing organizations in external meetings, conferences, regulatory proceedings, and international forums.
  • Familiarity with ICAO, CAEP, ICCAIA, international aviation policy processes, or comparable international regulatory frameworks is highly desirable.

Education

  • Bachelors’ degree in aviation/aerospace or public policy, or related fields with comparable work experience required.

Position Summary:

The Aerospace Industries Association’s (AIA) communications team is a key driver of the organization’s advocacy and outreach strategy, sharing the story of how the aerospace and defense industry contributes to America’s safety, security, and economic success.

The Manager, Content and Communications is a central storyteller, editor, and content strategist for AIA. This role is responsible for shaping, developing, and maintaining AIA’s core written products — from executive speeches and long-form thought leadership to member-facing content and internal communications — ensuring consistency, clarity, and alignment across audiences and platforms.

Working closely with AIA leadership, policy and legislative teams, membership, and internal operations, this position plays a critical role in translating complex policy priorities into compelling, accessible, and strategic content that advances AIA’s mission.

The salary range for this role is $65,000 – $73,000.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Content Development (30%)

  • Lead AIA’s speechwriting efforts, including drafting, editing, and maintaining a centralized speech bank for senior leadership.
  • Serve as chief editor for AIA’s long-form external products, including white papers, reports, policy explainers, and issue briefs developed by AIA’s policy teams.
  • Draft and edit longer-form written products such as op-eds, long-form blog posts, CEO bylined articles, and other thought leadership content.
  • Maintain and regularly update off-the-shelf talking points, messaging frameworks, and strategic narratives for use across the organization.
  • Partner with policy and issue-area teams to translate complex subject matter into clear, compelling content for external audiences.

Digital & Platform Content (25%)

  • Serve as the day-to-day lead on drafting compelling social media content, including graphics and video as needed.
  • Spearhead rapid social media response and ensure AIA stays current to the latest social media trends and strategies.
  • Support development and execution of AIA’s social media content strategy in coordination with the Manager of Digital Assets.
  • Update and maintain website copy to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with AIA priorities and messaging.
  • Work with Coordinator, Communications and Legislative Affairs, to support these efforts.

Thought Leadership (15%)

  • Identify, develop, and support thought leadership opportunities for AIA leadership and subject matter experts.
  • Maintain and manage AIA’s editorial calendar, coordinating content priorities across communications, policy, and membership teams.
  • Ensure alignment and consistency across written products, speeches, digital content, and media-facing materials.

Member-Facing & Internal Communications (15%)

  • Partner with the membership team to support clear, engaging member-facing communications that explain AIA priorities and impact.
  • Partner with HR to support an internal messaging strategy that informs, engages, and aligns staff.
  • Help ensure consistency between internal, member-facing, and external messaging.

Media & Cross-Team Support (15%)

  • Support drafting and editing of press releases and other media materials in coordination with the Senior Manager, Media Relations.
  • Provide general communications support to policy and issue divisions, serving as a trusted writing, editing, and strategy resource.
  • Work collaboratively across the communications team to advance AIA priorities, align messaging, and strengthen the organization’s voice.

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with demonstrated experience producing long-form written content.
  • Strong editorial judgment and ability to translate complex policy issues into accessible language.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.

  • Minimum of four years in communications, legislative affairs, or trade association experience.

Position Summary:

This position serves as a dedicated recruitment lead responsible for driving outbound member acquisition and supporting inbound membership inquiries. The role goes beyond initial outreach, it requires building clear, company-specific intelligence on recruitment targets to understand why a prospect should join, what policy issues matter most to their business, and what unique value they bring to AIA’s membership.

Additionally, this role oversees end-to-end prospect relationship management, including logging touchpoints, tracking meeting follow-ups, and coordinating event invitations to recruitment targets. Over time, the position will absorb established recruitment methods and prospect relationships, operating under the direction of membership leadership.  This position coordinates with Corporate Events and other AIA teams to support membership recruitment and engagement opportunities but does not hold primary responsibility for sponsorship sales, sponsorship fulfillment, or non-dues revenue generation.

Success in this role will be measured through strategic account engagement, pipeline progression, membership conversions, CRM discipline, and contribution to AIA’s membership-growth objectives.

The salary range for this role is $65,000 – $73,000.

Key Responsibilities:

Membership Recruitment & Strategy (75%)

  • Own day-to-day pipeline progression for prospective member companies.
  • Build and manage peer-credible outreach to Neo-Primes and other non-traditional entrants.
  • Target Account Research & Strategy: Research prospective member companies across active recruitment pipelines to build actionable, account-level intelligence.
  • Value Proposition Alignment: Identify and document the specific strategic rationale and next action-plans for each target company, articulating why they need AIA (their core policy, regulatory, or supply chain priorities) and why AIA needs them (as an industry innovator, a critical supplier, or a new market entrant, etc.).
  • Outbound Recruitment Execution: Conduct direct outbound outreach to qualified prospective companies, communicating AIA’s policy impact, working group benefits, and executive networking value.
  • Ability to confidently and professionally engage with and present to founders, chief executive officers, government affairs leaders, business-development executives, and other senior industry representatives in support of AIA membership recruitment objectives.
  • Prospect Relationship Tracking: Manage the end-to-end follow-up cycle for all recruitment targets using CRM, ensuring prompt post-meeting follow-ups, and targeted invitations to upcoming AIA events and division meetings, as well as tracking conversion blockers to improve future recruitment.
  • Pipeline & Relationship Transition: Absorb existing recruitment methodologies, target lists, and industry contact relationships from senior staff over time to build dedicated, long-term recruitment capacity under membership leadership.
  • Execute outbound recruitment campaigns to convert industry prospects and international trade show leads into active association members.
  • Travel as needed for event-related recruitment fulfillment activities.

Coordination & Integration (25%)

  • Assist the Membership team leadership in coordinating internally within the organization so that prospective members connect with the relevant policy teams and AIA events.
  • Coordinate targeted recruiting with policy, communications, legislative, events, and senior leadership within AIA.
  • Schedule meetings with prospective companies and AIA team members.
  • Ensure the integration of recruitment strategies into major event execution plans and provides monitoring & visibility into these efforts via intuitive & data driven metrics.
  • Assist with monthly prep work for cross-divisional membership check-ins, by researching and updating recruitment metrics, and updating metrics tracker for prospect outreach efforts.
  • Attend selected policy councils, committee meetings, and strategic discussions to understand industry priorities, identify membership opportunities, and connect prospective companies with relevant AIA initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience:

Desired Skills/Experience

  • Membership Recruitment Experience: Minimum of 1–3 years of direct experience in association membership recruitment, business development, or account management, with demonstrated success in tracking prospective accounts through a sales or recruitment pipeline.
  • Consultative B2B sales or enterprise account development experience preferred.
  • Analytical & Account Research Skills: Ability to analyze target companies, digest industry policy topics, and craft tailored pitch messaging based on a prospect’s market position and industry role.
  • Pipeline Management & Detail Orientation: Rigorous tracking habits with a proven ability to log detailed notes, manage follow-up calendars, send prompt meeting recaps, and maintain CRM data integrity.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with comfort interacting with senior industry/C-Suite executives, government affairs leads, and internal leadership.
  • Solid project management skills, including the development of work plans, responsibilities, and timelines, preferred, while maintaining high-quality standards and attention to detail. Ability to meet concrete deadlines.
